We study the large n limit of the moduli spaces of Gn-instantons on S and CP 2 where Gn is SU(n), Sp(n/2), or SO(n). We show that in the direct limit topology, the moduli space is homotopic to a classifying space. For example, the moduli space of Sp(∞) or SO(∞) instantons on CP 2 has the homotopy type of BU(k) where k is the charge of the instantons. We use our results along with Taubes’ result...
متن کاملOn the Mark and Markaracter Tables of Finite Groups
Let G be a finite group and C(G) be the family of representative conjugacy classes of subgroups of G. The matrix whose H,K-entry is the number of fixed points of the set G/K under the action of H is called the table of marks of G where H,K run through all elements in C(G). Shinsaku Fujita for the first time introduced the term “markaracter” to discuss marks for permutation representati...

This paper extends previous work on family structure and children's education by conceptualizing migration as a distinct form of family disruption that reduces parental input but brings substantial economic benefits through remittances. It examines the multiple and countervailing effects of migration on schooling in the context of substantial migration and limited educational opportunities for ...

متن کاملThe mathematics of Charles Sanders Peirce
This essay explores the Mathematics of Charles Sanders Peirce. We concentrate on his notational approaches to basic logic and his general ideas about Sign, Symbol and diagrammatic thought. In the course of this paper we discuss two notations of Peirce, one of Nicod and one of Spencer-Brown. Needless to say, a notation connotes an entire language and these contexts are elaborated herein. The fir...
